From kid to kid to me and back to the kids and then me again, and the the kids some more and then me again and as soon as you think all is well, the littlest tries some marvelous stunt and splits his face open, or his head, and we're back to the ER.
I'm struggling with the root of all this illness... I think it's starts with this house. We're currently in a rental home that has some pretty significant moisture issues and mold growing in closets and in the walls... and the HVAC system. The summers are brutal here in the South (something our family is not used to yet), so we HAD to run the AC all summer, but we shut off the system at the first of September (no AC and no heat). As long as the temp in the house is somewhere between 58 and 88, we're pretty much OK and it's better to have it off vs spreading more mold around and inhaling all that junk. It's been pretty darn cold at night the past few weeks, but I put the kids in their footies and toss on an extra blanket and all is well.
But there's more. The dust in the house is UNREAL. I have never dusted this much in my life. I don't know where it's coming from... but I know that between the mold and the dust, I feel icky and it probably has a lot to do with us being constantly sick.
Where does this leave us? We'll.... WE'RE MOVING! The Landlord and Property Management have made zero efforts to respond to our complaints and requests or to fix the mold issue (along with a few other mechanical/maintenance problems at the house), so we went house hunting.
The downside? I can't work. If kids are sick, or if I'm sick, I can't get help to watch the kids so I can work in the shop out back. I try to cram in what I can if they take a nap (very rare these days) and I have the weekends for the most part... but I'm struggling.
I closed down my Etsy shop for the time being... a very bad move at the holidays and I know we need the income... but I MUST catch up on current orders and just try to get everyone well (myself included). I'm cleaning the house over and over like a crazy woman... dusting, washing walls, scrubbing floors, purging junk, and planning... and more planning... new business ideas, ideas for our new home, trying to organize our lives... and regain our health.
Wish us luck!! Hopefully we'll be in our new house by Christmas!
