![]() It's been a long time since I've updated the world on my life and my work. There's a reason... WE'RE HOMEOWNERS! A few months back, we purchased a bit of a fixer home in a wonderful neighborhood with fabulous schools. If the simple act of moving with 3 small children (an no vacation time taken by the husband) weren't enough, the house needs work. Even before unpacking, I demolished the main upstairs bathroom. And when I say demolished, I mean gutted. Completely gutted. It had to be done... unless we wanted to fall through the floor while sitting on the potty. From busting out a vintage (nasty textured smelly leaky stained) 6 foot vanity... to 3 inches of tile on a mortar bed... to 2 inches of concrete behind the tile around the pink steel bathtub... to cutting out the rotting subfloor... It was one HUGE job. The good news? 3 months later, we have a new floor... with new green penny tile... and a new tub! It's deep and wide and I adore it. But there's still so much more to do. Like the walls... and the issue of the toilet sitting in the middle of my kitchen... And there's everything else that pops up... out of town guests (a definite challenge when you're down a bathroom), school activities (needing new dresses and costumes), holidays, ice storms, landscaping, a new puppy, and work (in a workshop that's still not entirely unpacked or organized).
I'm doing my best... but, wow... we're homeowners now and that's huge. It's been a long time coming... but the projects stack up and time is precious. I envision having a completed bathroom and an unpacked house sometime in 2015. Wish me luck and knock on some (non-rotted) wood that I'll find balance and enjoy the ride (and more sales to help pay for all the projects would be nice too... wink-wink).
