Do you recall this "fun" game from your childhood school carnivals? The Cakewalk... It's basically musical chairs with sugary sweets up for grabs.
This morning, I find myself pondering the phrase, "It's no Cakewalk." I said it the other day... and now it's stuck in my head.
Why on earth do we say it? The Cakewalk isn't fun. It's brutal. It's pushing and shoving and fighting over cake... and really, I don't even like cake (or I should say that I don't like icing).
Yes, I know, when someone says "It's no Cakewalk," they mean it's not easy... but really, have you ever taken home a cake? Have you ever been shoved out of the way trying to get your mitts on that coveted cake? I guess, all in all, it's not as bad as a pinata. Even as a child, I was disgusted by the display of greed over candy on the floor. At least the cake grown-ups and kids are fighting over isn't mashed on the floor, right?
A work in progress
