I get mirror time really only when I'm giving the kids a bath. It's not a bad thing... I honestly don't get out much, except the hardware store/lumber yard or a quick run for groceries. What I look like doesn't matter so much, and I still manage to get 'hit on' at the hardware store, so I must be doing something right (although that "something" surely does not include make up or even a hair brush - I'm more of a wild hair/natural beauty... or something like that... sure).
I digress. My mirror time tonight consisted of 3 separate baths - not all in one fell swoop (the norm). I had oodles of time to inspect every pore. It was scary.
Since the birth of my first child (a little over 5 years ago), I haven't given myself a single facial... no pedicures... I rarely even apply a moisturizer. I've given up, as many over-worked and under-slept moms do.
I solemnly vow to change that - right now. But.... I don't have any facial-type-stuff anymore... and it's getting late... and I'm cheap. I did a little research and it turns out I don't need anything other than my kitchen. I have water - I have a towel - I have herbs - I have a pot to boil the water - I have sugar - I have honey - I have a lemon. I'm set. AWESOME!
Step 1 - boil water, add some herbs. Remove from the heat, put your face over the pot (about 12 inches) and cover with a towel for about 10 minutes.
Step 2 - mix a few tablespoons of sugar and a bit of honey to make a paste. Add a few drops of lemon juice if so desired. Scrub in a circular motion. Rinse.
Now.... to get the kids to go to bed so I can get that "me" time....
A work in progress
