This is an ear... a normal, healthy ear. This is not my ear.
As a household we've been struck with the creeping crud for the past two weeks. Symptoms Include: Coughing, 'snots,' sneezing, low-grade fever, fatigue, and general ickiness.
Thankfully, it's mostly over now... except the junk in my chest. I still gurgle a bit. Fun.
The thing that's really got me down? My ear. Like I said, this is not my ear. My ear is now infected. I've never experienced an ear infection... an outer ear infection. It's all the fun of having a wisdom tooth extracted, but without the good drugs. I can't hear. I can't chew. I can't touch my ear.
The up-side? It's a great for weight loss! If you can't eat... or if chewing causing extreme pain, you develop a natural immunity to hunger pains and an aversion to food in general. I dropped 5 lbs in 3 days... but started to get pretty cranky. Last night I made an emergency trip to the local grocery (small town store) and filled a basket with "no chew" foods. Things that will slide right down.
Although it's a bright and cheerful store, selections are limited. I ended up with instant mashed potatoes. Another first! You got it, I've never eaten instant potatoes. They're not nearly as bad as I thought they might be... but, unless I need to eat paste, I'll stick to making my own. Other fun items? Cream of Wheat, Cream of Chicken Soup, V-8 Juice, and Ice Cream.
I made it to a whopping 800 calories today! Whooo hoooo!!
I can't wait till I can chew again.
A work in progress
